Desmond7 Posted 10 April , 2013 Share Posted 10 April , 2013 Ulster, Ireland and the Somme by Catherine Switzer Received my review copy this week ... read it in basically one-go. Excellent material for those interested in all the nuances . Well researched, well produced, well worth the dough. Found out a lot of things I never had a clue about. Was particularly interested in the history of the tower in the inter-war and second world war years .. especially the poor treatment it had received, not from Germans but from the French. Not being xenophobic because needs must etc. If you are looking for a new book which does not rehash what those of us who care already know then this is for you. The amount of red tape involved in the early plans to erect a memorial on the site was simply enormous. Well done Catherine.
