eviltaxman Posted 12 September , 2004 Share Posted 12 September , 2004 John, Where is Mountessing? Is it in Essex? And if so, how far is Stanford-Le-Hope? Les.

Terry Denham Posted 12 September , 2004 Share Posted 12 September , 2004 Great minds! There are also a couple of Harold (Harry?) Cook entries from Essex on SDGW.
john w. Posted 12 September , 2004 Author Share Posted 12 September , 2004 Stanford le Hope would not be in the same parish unless I suppose there was a family connection. Until now I have been able to place those listed and more, to Mountnessing either as residing or born there. Stanford has to be about 10 miles away. Sorry Mountnessing is in Essex.. near Brentwood and Billericay John
Terry Denham Posted 12 September , 2004 Share Posted 12 September , 2004 I don't see that as being any bar to him being on the memorial. Many names were added of people from outside parishes - married into the area, had parents there, worked there etc. Unless this memorial is different for some reason. I can't see any more likely candidate without more information.
eviltaxman Posted 12 September , 2004 Share Posted 12 September , 2004 I think I'll have to side with Terry on this one. I've got a few local memorials, including one to staff who worked for the Fry's factory in Keynsham (Somerdale). A couple of them were born & enlisted in Manchester/Scotland etc, yet lived for a short while here in Bristol. Les.
