A Mad Catastrophe

There is a new book coming out in 2014 by Geoffry Wawro "A Mad Catastrophe The Outbreak of World War I and the Collapse of the Hapsburg Empire". If it is anything like his books "The Austro-Prussian War" and "The France Prussian War" It should be very good.

It would be interesting to read about the summer of 1914 from an Austrian viewpoint. In recent literature, both those who blame Germany for things and those that absolve Germany have no trouble charging "Austria" (or at least the ruling officials in the Hapsburg government) with shortsightedness, incompetence, inept execution of plans, and criminal disregard for consequences.
