susan1962 Posted 19 September , 2004 Share Posted 19 September , 2004 Hi, can anyone give me any information on the following person?:- William Hoe PACEY Born 1880-Elston,Notts Residence at time of outbreak of war-Holbeach,Lincs Unfortunately I have no regiment or service number for him.He died at home of a progressive wasting disease in Dec 1916.What I don't know is if he was well enough to join up before he died or whether he was ill when the war started.I suppose he may even have been too old to join up in 1914.But if he did join up it would be nice to know what regiment he served in and if he saw action. Can anyone help in this? Many thanks for anyone who can give me some info.
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 20 September , 2004 Share Posted 20 September , 2004 34 is not too old to enlist - he could have lied about his age. However one has to question whether he would have passed the medical bearing in mind he died of a wasting disease just over 2 years later.
