He was a L/Cpl

Enlisted Derby

Lived in Heanor, Derbyshire.

You can also see if his records survive (many were destroyed in the blitz) at the National Archives in Kew, Surrey.

1901 census has 4-year-old Leonard living at 50 High Street, Heanor, with his parents John, a 28 year old fishmonger, and Grace (?), 26. Also there are brother Edgar aged 2 and sister Edith, aged 11 months.
