Long shot Gordon Highlander possibly

Hello Very long shot, but I am trying to trace a soldier by the name of Robert Mafeking Philips. The only Robert M Philips I can find in the Medal index cards was attached to the Gordon Highlander (sorry no battalion).

Anybody able to help with this long shot?

With a name like Mafeking I can only assume he was born at the time of the Relief of Mafeking (May 1900). I have found an R Philips on the 1901 Census who was born in Mountain Ash Glamorgan who could fit this description.

The MICs on-line are not complete. It could very well be this man, however unless the man attested using hsi full name, it may not be him. A view of the MIC fiche and medal rolls at the PRO is your next best step.
