Mark Hone Posted 23 September , 2004 Share Posted 23 September , 2004 My headmaster's grandfather served with this unit. From Chris's excelllent BEF Orbat I know that it was part of 40th RGA Brigade and attached to 1st Army. On the off chance that anyone has any further details I'd be very interested

rflory Posted 26 September , 2004 Share Posted 26 September , 2004 You mention that your headmaster's grandfather served with 196 Battery RGA. There was both a 196th Siege Battery, RGA and a 196th Heavy Battery, RGA. Do you know with which he served? Regards. Dick Flory
