Inscription on a trench periscope - which unit?

I have had this Lifeguard folding periscope for a few years and the scratched inscription has always puzzled me. Can anyone help with the unit below the officer's name (I.N --- S.R.)?

Thanks!

Thank you Gentlemen, all the old faithful indeed! ;)

I guess it is 'chapeau' to Teapots - that must be my man. Confused as I had always read it as IN.............SR and not 1 NSR.

It might not show in the picture but next to BEF at the bottom is a date of .......1915. Good to see he made Captain at least.

All right, RT gets the brevet, but I deserve a "mention"! Phil B

Absolutely. It was easy for me to punch in a name. But without the regiment, there were lots of possibilities.

I was just Phil's wing man. :)

Ahhhhh...but Phil, I was including you as an 'old faithful', now that's an accolade indeed.

'Chapeau' to you too! ;)
