Service Number

I am currently recording local war memorials, and researching those named on them. One private has the service number SPTS/4183. Can anyone enlighten me as to the SPTS please?

It was a "Pals" Battalion,raised initially from Various Sportsmen{Footballers/Athletes/Rugby Players/Etc;} being designated 23rd & 24th Service Battalions The Royal Fusiliers[City Of London Regiment]raised in London by E .Cunliffe~Owen on 25th September & 20th November 1914 respectively,They were both part of the 99th Brigade 33rd Division & were taken over by the War Office on 1st July 1915;The 23rd & 24th landed @ Boulogne on 17th November 1915,they became part of 2nd Division on 25th Nov.1915.Ending the War @ Quesnoy
