SMG65 Posted 6 October , 2004 Share Posted 6 October , 2004 I am researching my Great Uncle's military service in the Great War, which is proving very difficult. However I have a postcard which was sent by him during the Great War. Unfortunately he wrote it in pencil and his writing has faded to the point of being unreadable. It improves slightly when held to the light but still can't be read. Does anyone know how I can improve the writing or where I could take it to get it enhanced? Guest JIM EDWARDS Posted 6 October , 2004 Share Posted 6 October , 2004 If you have got the kit - or know someone who has; suggest scan into Photoshop and experiment by changing brightness and contrast.
Malcolm Posted 6 October , 2004 Share Posted 6 October , 2004 Once scanned in it may help to invert the image to a negative and alter the brightness and contrast. Aye Malcolm
KONDOA Posted 7 October , 2004 Share Posted 7 October , 2004 When you have it scanned get a reasonable resolution ie 300 -600 this seems to give a good workable clarity without overdoing it. Then of course post it because these seem to provide a bit of fun for various members, myself included.
