Royal First Devon Yeomanry - possibly Hotchkiss Gunner (cuff badge)?

HG for Hotchkiss Gunner was my first thought - it doesn't quite fit the standard pattern though, but there are enough variations through different makers and private purchase to not make that unusual.

Many thanks both for your prompt responses. The regiment fits in with what little I know about him. Your help is much appreciated.

It's a splendid picture. If you have any more details (name, for example), I'm sure others might be able to flesh out some details.

His name was Ernest Edward Penny and he was born on 27th October, 1898 in Springbourne, Bournemouth. That is all the information I have about him at present. Hope that this might be of some help.

I think that the Hotchkiss gunners badge is this variation.

Smart lad, regimental buttons and privately-purchased breeches.
