Sorry to see that! I hope you post your review.

In the meantime, how about a brief extract:

"They had nothing; not even their own bodies, which had become mere implements of warfare. They turned from the wreckage and misery of life to an empty heaven, and from an empty heaven to the silence of their own hearts. They had been brought to the last extremity of hope, and yet they put their hands on each other’s shoulders and said with a passionate conviction that it would be all right, though they had faith in nothing, but in themselves and in each other."

To be honest, it wasn't going to be a review, although I will say I much admire the book. I was simply trumpeting that it was available as a Kindle download at £1.99, bargain. However, on going back to Amazon, I discovered that it was already available for free, so not so much of a bargain, and not a cause for trumpeting!

The original unexpurgated version The Middle Parts of Fortune (forget the bowdlerized Her Privates We) as a free download is definitely worth trumpeting!

Here is the link.
