Mark Hone Posted 15 October , 2004 Share Posted 15 October , 2004 Whilst reading David Stafford's excellent 'Roosevelt and Churchill:Men of Secrets' I came across a brief reference to SOE officer Captain Alfgar Hesketh-Prichard. I suspect that he may be closely related to the remarkable Major H. Hesketh-Prichard, of 'Sniping In France' fame. Can anyone confirm this? Incidentally I would recommend David Stafford's various books on espionage. 'Churchill and Secret Service' in particular contains much fascinating, not to say bizarre, material on the Great War. Stephen Nulty Posted 15 October , 2004 Share Posted 15 October , 2004 Mark Alfgar was HV's son, born 1916, disappeared on an SOE mission late 1944. Steve

Mark Hone Posted 15 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 15 October , 2004 Stephen-Thanks for the information. I shall look him up on CWGC website. H.V. Hesketh-Prichard was a remarkable chap, of whom I'd like to know more. As well as a big-game hunter and adventurer he was also a detective story writer. His book on sniping is one of those many slightly odd but classic books of the First World War. Are you related, Andrew?
