robbie Posted 16 October , 2004 Share Posted 16 October , 2004 Hi all, While I was trying to translate the German text of a deathcard I came across this link to a webpage that lists all abbreviations used on WW1 German records. Very handy site: http://mitglied.lycos.de/Bajonette/Deutsche-Stempel.htm Robbie
Guest deepathart Posted 16 October , 2004 Share Posted 16 October , 2004 Thanks Robbie, Don't know if I will ever need it but have printed off - still some German words that I don't know - but there again I don't know much anyway Regards Dee

robbie Posted 16 October , 2004 Author Share Posted 16 October , 2004 Should have put all these in one post, however I have just found a book that outlines German deathcards and evidently many pictures of examples. I shall check it out. I Died For You, Too, A Collector's Guide to German World War II Death Notices" by Marc J. Johnson and Kristi A. Johnson. The authors are from US, hopefully the book is still available. They suggested looking on Eban (not sure what this is yet). Robbie
