David Filsell Posted 21 May , 2014 Share Posted 21 May , 2014 Can anyone please advise me if the original 1962 hardback edition of Alastair Horne's book 'The Price of Glory: Verdun 1916' contained notes and references and a bibliography.? I am aware that these are not included in the Penguin edition.
trenchtrotter Posted 21 May , 2014 Share Posted 21 May , 2014 My HB 4th edition Nov 1963 has both if that helps? TT Sorry 3 rd edition not 4th
David Filsell Posted 21 May , 2014 Author Share Posted 21 May , 2014 TT. Many thanks - I have mislaid my hardback copy and picked up a paperback and found neither refs nor bibliog and couldn't remember if they were in the original edition. I guess omission was a penguin cost saver. Davis
paulgranger Posted 22 May , 2014 Share Posted 22 May , 2014 I think the paperback also omitted a chapter on the air war over Verdun, though I don't know if that was a cost saving exercise or the author's decision.
