bushfighter Posted 7 July , 2014 Share Posted 7 July , 2014 Jack of Spies , a novel by David Downing, published by Old Street Publishing Ltd. ISBN 978-1-908699-29-9 David Downing wrote the six excellent Berlin 'Station' novels about espionage in World War II. Jack of Spies is the first novel in a series about espionage in the Great War. The hero, a very imperfect man - as are we all, operates in Tsingtau, Germany's China outpost; in San Francisco against the Indian revolutionary Ghadarite movement; in Vera Crux and Tampico, Mexico (the Royal Navy's major fuel-oil source); and in New York, Dublin and England (as war is declared) against Irish revolutionaries. For any Member with a broader vision than just the British Western Front this is an entertaining and well-researched read, and I am looking forward to the future novels. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jack-Spies-David-Downing/dp/190869971X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404750489&sr=8-1&keywords=Jack+of+Spies Happy reading Harry
The Scorer Posted 9 July , 2014 Share Posted 9 July , 2014 Yes, i enjoyed it as well (as I did the Berlin 'Station' novels). It's going to be interesting to see where our hero and heroine go next and what they get up to!
