trajan Posted 12 July , 2014 Share Posted 12 July , 2014 Thank you for showing those! There is a small amount about the regiment (raised at Altona, August 1914) at: http://genwiki.genealogy.net/RIR_212 There's even a history! - Ernst Makoben: "Geschichte des Reserve-Infanterie Regiments Nr. 212 im Weltkrieg 1914 - 1918", Erinnerungsblätter Preußen Bd. 352, Oldenburg 1933, Stalling, 784 Seiten. And Drake Goodman has a photo of members with their pickelhauben at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/drakegoodman/14348644495/ Drake Goodman's site adds: "The 45th Reserve Division fought on the Western Front, entering the line in October along the Yser and remaining there until April 1915, when it went into the fight for Ypres. The division remained in the Yser region until September 1916. And for the really dedicated, how about this site: - http://www.deutsches-reich-1914-1918.de/erste-flandernschlacht.html Trajan EDIT: the last site is really quite interesting - to quote the compiler: Ich stelle hier die Ereignisse des ersten Weltkrieges anhand von Extrablättern der Celleschen Zeitung und Anzeigen in chronologischer Reihenfolge vor. I.e., the progress of the war as reported in the 'extra' series of the local newspaper for Celle (Saxony). The series is incomplete but it gives a useful look at things from the other side!
