Thanks. I'm absolutely hopeless at badges/uniforms etc. Still stuck at the bottom of my long learning curve.

Are, John  I thought N.F stood for Northumberland Fusilier in your post

then it may have been  fairly local to me

but not a N.F cap badge

Hi Ray

You have him spot on Alfred Joseph Knight, from Ladywood in Birmingham, now a great dose of me eating humble pie, after checking your link I realised the picture I submitted was that of Henry James Knight, :w00t: the next image in my VC list. Apologise to all:blush: for leading you up the garden path

It's Bert Mckenzie, Jane. Awarded the Victoria Cross for his heroics during the raid on Zeebrugge.

He was an excellent boxer too, and sadly, became a victim of the flu epidemic.

Not sure of the connection with tje previous fellow though as yet.

The extensive library suggests that the two families are now linked by marriage via the grandchildren

Would they have anything to do with the group of 4th Batt KOYLI who were drown at Gainsborough, Lincs. on 19/2/1915 in a training accident, whilst on coastal defence duty.
