neverforget Posted 19 January , 2015 Share Posted 19 January , 2015 (edited) Deviously fiendish clue: the name of the bird is written on the side of the tank. As it is across my forehead, for missing it. Still. I`ve learned a bit more about tanks this afternoon. "You wouldn`t let it lie" so; Where`s the a.c. in this one??? EDIT: OOPS...In all the excitement I forgot I already had one still unsolved. As penance, I`ve gone back and edited him with hopefully enough clues to get him done and dusted pretty quick. MikB Posted 19 January , 2015 Share Posted 19 January , 2015 Well, it has to be the L19/King Stephen incident, but what's an a.c.? Regards, MikB
neverforget Posted 19 January , 2015 Share Posted 19 January , 2015 Sorry, MikB, it`s "avian connection" which was our most recent WIT sub-theme. Uncle George sort of revived it again, so I blame him. By the way, you`re quite correct about the details. But we still need the answer.

Eddie Skipper of the trawler, William Martin it is. Faced a moral dilema, and did what he thought was the right thing. Hard one to call, or to judge. Yes it's easy to misread that 'DODO' for a row of 0s. But to put it to bed, the picture is captioned 'Mark 1 supply tank 'Dodo' of B Battalion, Heavy Branch, Machine Gun Corps; Messines, 7 June 1917'.
