Conchie, eh?

EDIT: I`ve found one called Albert Green?

A conchie yes, but not Albert Green and not just a conchie. My man was arrested under DORA, found gulity of sedition and imprisoned. The colour sub-theme does not relate to his name, but to his views and activities.

It's not (a very young) John Maclean is it? Socialist = red

Colin you are very close. My man was later an MP and the subject of a biography by Gordon Brown.

Then it can only be James Maxton, Glaswegian socialist, MP for Glasgow Bridgeton 1922-1946, a leader of "Red Clydeside"

Yes indeed. James Maxton, he (like John Maclean) of Red Clydeside. A fascinating man.

Going with the flow, who is this???attachicon.giflk.jpg

DSO, DSC & Bar, DFC, as well as the Croix de Guerre and the Belgian Order of the Crown.

Is this Roy Brown? Credited with shooting down the Red Baron. There - two colours for the price of one.

Good one UG. but not him. He retired from the Royal Air Force with the rank of Vice Air Marshal. C.B. C.B.E. You probably already gathered that he was an ace.
Squadron commander and Major in WW1. Also served in the R.N.A.S.

EDIT: Born in Japan. In WW2 he served on the staff of Bomber Command.

EDIT: Time to give this one away I think. A Lord Lieutenant of Bute.

Well that was an enjoyable catch up on another excellent sub-theme. Where next folks?

I can even clear up this last chap who is Ronald Graham.

Another "coloured" Ace for you to play whilst we try and fathom your intriguingly unclear fellow.

Like my last Ace, this one also ended up as Vice Air Marshall, post WW2.

Also like my previous Ace, C.B, C.B.E, but this time, D.F.C. and bar.

Born in Scotland.

Now you mention it Pete, it does actually. Didn`t see it at all till you mentioned him, but the more I look, the more I`m convinced that you`re right.

It is vanishingly rare for me to actually recognise someone first time on this thread but he definitely has a look of Grey. Sorry about posting over your last flyboy; is is Matthew Frew?

Pete.

NF from David by a short head. I didn't think that he would last too long. Frank Luke Jr. the balloon buster, buried in the massive Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery at Romagnes just north west of Verdun. Luke is one of 14,246 burials; the scale of the place is staggering.

Pete.
