Vendegies Cross Roads British Cemetery is situated at the intersection of the Vendegies-Bermerain and Saulzoir-Villers Pol Roads. Historical Information: This Cemetery was made by the XVII Corps early in November, 1918. There are now nearly 580, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. Myrtle Posted 24 October , 2004 Share Posted 24 October , 2004 SDGW Enlisted:Tottenham Formerly: 81462 Essex Yeomanry KiA 1901 census lists the Meaby family as living in St Pancras which ties in with mention of Kentish Town on CWGC. Ernest was listed as Earnest, 2 years old. His father Thomas Meaby born in Hoxton was a Butcher Manager aged 53 and his mother Martha was 40 years old. Ernest seems to have been the youngest of at least 7 children. His brother Fred Meaby 15 years old in 1901 and a Butler Boy won an MM in WW1 while with the Cambridgeshire Regiment. Sgt.
