524th Howitizer Battery

I am hoping someone can help me locate information on the 524th Howitizer Battery, RFA that I believe served in Mesopotamia as part of the 15th Indian Division.

The goal is to help a friend determine some particulars of the service of his Great Uncle who was in the above-mentioned battery. He believes the soldier, 226241 GNR Maurice Chynoweth, RA served in Mesopotamia in 1917 and 1918. GNR Chynoweth was transferred back to the UK on 22 January 1919 for demobilization from Mesopotamia. That is all the infomation he has.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

The 524th (H) Battery arrived in Mesopotamia by December 1916. It is listed as being part of the 15th division's arty. (215 brigade) on 11 Nov. 1918.

It took part in quiet a few scraps it seems...
