John_Hartley Posted 2 November , 2004 Share Posted 2 November , 2004 Does anyone have a handy copy of the DCM book and can do me a look-up, please My man is a Pte Michael Burke, 12241, 2nd Cheshires, who was KIA on 17/4/15. CWGC credits him with a DCM, but I can't find his citation on the London Gazette site (no surprise there - I hate that site) nor, unusually, can I find it in the Regimental History list of awards. Thanks in anticipation John
Stuart Brown Posted 2 November , 2004 Share Posted 2 November , 2004 I have Walker's Recipients of DCM 14-20. Cannot see the name Burke in the Cheshire Regt Section.
John_Hartley Posted 2 November , 2004 Author Share Posted 2 November , 2004 Stuart Thanks. Could you please also have a look for him under the Grenadiers section. There was hint in the press report of his death that he served with them as a regular, but I'd assumed it was pre-war. John

John_Hartley Posted 2 November , 2004 Author Share Posted 2 November , 2004 Stuart Many thanks. Looks as though he didnt win it after all. I'll have to have a nosy at the war diary to see if anything jumps off the page (like it was only an MM, or something) Dilemma is now what do I do about the CWGC record if I don't find anything? I've never come across a situation where they ought to take something off the record. John
