I would like to find out who won the 34th Div Football titlle in 1918.

I came accross a medal to a Sgt H G Harvey 8th Bttn Lincs Regt. some time ago and would love to know more about it.

Would a footy match be publicsized? Would a team list exsist (I'm hoping here)?

The 8th Lincs Lost, but to whom? What was the score?

This is beginning to sound like Blackadder Goes Fourth. :P

If you check the 8/Lincs or the Brigade war diary it may well get a mention.

Hi Lee,

I suspect they lost to the 16th Royal Scots - McRae's Battalion - or sometimes called the Hearts Battalion. Many professional footballers joined the battalion. I wouldn't imagine it was that close run a match - most of the 34th div results I have seen certainly indicate this.

Hope that helps. I will see if I can find any hard evidence for you though.

All the best,

Tim

Thank you for your input, Andy & Tim.

I will certainly check the diaries of the 8th, I have some copies though they maybe from an earlier time. Well worth a dig around though.

An unusual find I thought, though I have come accross sports medals from that period before.

Cheers,
