Guest stevenbec Posted 6 November , 2004 Share Posted 6 November , 2004 Mate, The 28th Bn AIF (1/28Bn was not used in the Great war or later). Any book of the AIF will tell you where they were. 1916 the Somme battles including Pozieres and Flers. 1917 advance to the Hindenberg line, Bullecourt, Menin Road, Broodseinde Ridge and other Passchendaele battles. There is a History of this Bn called "The Blue and White Diamond" by Neville Browning. S.B
Guest bonza Posted 6 November , 2004 Share Posted 6 November , 2004 G'day Chris Welcome, IMHO the best place to start a study of any person or unit of the AIF is at www.awm.gov.au Take your time & surf the site properly. The home page gives tons of options. Might I recommend that you start with the "Search our Collections" feature and search under your man's surname [if applicable] Then try the Australian Military Units 'trail'. There are links there back to the photo records etc etc. Should you have any questions, or feel like sharing any points with others, this Forum can't be beaten. Steve has sketched an outline for you. Should you come up with even the most obscure of questions, my money is on him for either the right answer or the directions to it.
