P.Chavasse - Information

On a recent visit to the Arras Memorial I noticed the name P.Chavasse on the RFC/RAF Memorial under the heading of India. I wondered if he was related to Noel Chavasse VC & Bar. From what I have read I know he was not a brother, so thought perhaps a cousin. From the CWGC site I found out that his first name was Percy. Nationality was given as Indian. Percy must be a rather unusual name among Indian nationals, so feel there must be an interesting story there. Can anyone shed light on this matter, or confirm relationship to Noel?

The nationality 'Indian' on the CWGC site does not refer to the man.

It refers to the nationality of the unit in which he served. All casualties must be allocated to one one the six member states of the CWGC according to unit. - United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa or India.

It is the nationality of the force in which they served.

Therefore an Australian serving in the Canadian army would be listed as 'Canadian' etc.
