This though, is a modern application that could never have been envisaged by the original compilers. Does anyone know the original purpose for compiling and publishing the 85 separate volumes SDGW? Was it comemmorative, administative, or, or what; and what sources did they use? If it was the original enlistment papers, why are some fields blank? For instance, every soldier must have given a place of birth and residence, but these are absent in many entries. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
