Guest falcon46 Posted 7 November , 2004 Share Posted 7 November , 2004 Found out Grandfather was in the above unit. However can anyone explain how I find out (if it is possible) which Division/battalion he was in. ?
Max Posted 7 November , 2004 Share Posted 7 November , 2004 As you can see by following the link below that there were 18 battalions of the York and Lancaster Regt during the Great War. Your Grandfather could have been in any one of them. http://www.1914-1918.net/yorkslancs.htm Andy

Chris Noble Posted 7 November , 2004 Share Posted 7 November , 2004 Hi falcon. As regards his transfer to the Labour Corps, the person to ask is Ivor Lee, he no doubt, will be able to provide you with some information. Hope that is of some help. Good luck! Regards, Chris. GavinH Posted 7 November , 2004 Share Posted 7 November , 2004 On the Medal Index Card there will be a series of letters and numbers next to the medal entitlement. This reference relates to the Medal Rolls which are held at the National Archives. The Medal Roll will show which battalion/s he served overseas with.
