German photos of the Baghdad Railway

Scroll down to photos of the Bagdad-Bahn

Mainly untitled, but one category is titled

"Bagdadbahn, Taurusgebirge, Belemedik, Adana"

Belemedik was the site of a work camp in the Taurus Mountains for British (and others) Prisoners of War who were compelled to work on the tunnels through the mountains for the railway line.

Thanks for the links, although a couple there in that first set were a little on the off-ish side... Those railway stations should be identifiable as most of the ones on the Ankara - Adana line have not or have hardly been changed since built. I have travelled that line a few times and never realised that POW's were involved in the tunnel works! It is really something to do this line through the Taurus Mountains though - one minute there is an almost sheer drop on the right, then comes a tunnel, sounds of wheels shrieking against the track in a tight turns, and then out again and an almost sheer drop on the left!
