The Great War (1914-1918) Forum

Recommended Posts

I would like to alert the readers of the Great War Forum to a new book on the Gallipoli campaign.

It is entitled 'Twas Better to Die - The Irish Times and Gallipoli 1915-2015'

It tells the story of the Gallipoli campaign as it was told through the archives of The Irish Times with a narrative from myself explaining the context.

There are some terrific first-hand accounts from soldiers.

The archives are also instructive as to how the campaign was viewed as it was happening.

in addition, there is a welter of material from today explaining the context of Gallipoli from an Irish point of view and how and why the campaign was forgotten at home.

It is currently available as an eBook, but it may be published as a physical book if we can generate sufficient interest.

I would appreciate the support of the members of the forum.

It's only €4.99 and has some great reading in it.

It can be accessed here.
