I have been asked how to find out about a father and son that were both in the QVR.

The Name was RYAN - Edward John - he was the son. Unfortunately I don't have the Fathers christian name/s.

The Father joined up to take care of his son - both survived I believe.

I think there was a thread on Brothers that served together but were there many Fathers and Sons.

Regards

Dee

Dee,

Yes father and son Sir Walter Norris Congreve VC and his son Major William la Touche Congreve VC.

"Billy" was under the command of his father I believe when he was awarded his VC for his actions on the Somme.

Billy was shot by a sniper on July 20th 1916.

Bob.
