Guest deepathart Posted 16 November , 2004 Share Posted 16 November , 2004 I have been asked how to find out about a father and son that were both in the QVR. The Name was RYAN - Edward John - he was the son. Unfortunately I don't have the Fathers christian name/s. The Father joined up to take care of his son - both survived I believe. I think there was a thread on Brothers that served together but were there many Fathers and Sons. Regards Dee
Bob Coulson Posted 16 November , 2004 Share Posted 16 November , 2004 Most notable fathers and sons were probably the Congreves. Bob.

Bob Coulson Posted 17 November , 2004 Share Posted 17 November , 2004 Dee, Yes father and son Sir Walter Norris Congreve VC and his son Major William la Touche Congreve VC. "Billy" was under the command of his father I believe when he was awarded his VC for his actions on the Somme. Billy was shot by a sniper on July 20th 1916. Bob.
