Hi all

Can anyone tell me what the above guys were doing on that day please? I have a soldier KIA then, buried at ST. VAAST POST MILITARY CEMETERY, RICHEBOURG-L'AVOUE.

Can anyone help with info known from the cemetery location praps?

The 1st took over in the Neuve Chappelle sector on 1st December. No big actions but, because the two front lines were so close together, a series of raiding parties by each side. Assume that's why your chap was killed but retrieved. The CO was also wounded, but by one of his own officers who thought that the Germans were carrying out a raid ! The Bedfords moved out of the front line on the 5th and rested up at a girls school in Bethune.

Battalion diary may give more information.

Shot by one of your own officers? Ill bet he was popular! Ill have a look at their diary when I go see nigel next time.
