Frajohn Posted 17 November , 2004 Share Posted 17 November , 2004 Hi I would be grateful for any details of the actions of this battalion on October 1st 1918. I am researching C.S.M John William Newman D.C.M, who was K.I.A on that day and is remembered on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial. Many thanks John
katesdad Posted 18 November , 2004 Share Posted 18 November , 2004 My Great Uncle Robert Rayner was a CSM in the 2/7th Manchesters, died 9th Oct 1917. I can do a bit loooking around about the battalion in the run up to your uncle's death if you give me a few days. Larry Bedford

Many thanks John Hi John welcome to the forum, looking at the mother site (the long long trail) the 2nd Mancs were part of the 32nd div (as of feb 1918) on the 1/10/18 they were part of the Battle of the St Quentin Canal - 29th September - 2nd October 1918 I'm sure some of the other 'Manchester' will expand on this ( or correct me) chris
