Guest robert.brown Posted 18 November , 2004 Share Posted 18 November , 2004 As I can't leave old photographs in junk shops I picked this up the other day. Unfortunately there is nothing on it to identify it, except that the photographer was in Ipswich. Regrettably the insignia are too small for a positive identification, but does anybody recognize the battalion or location? (I can send a very detailed scan to anybody who wants it if they have broadband).
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 18 November , 2004 Share Posted 18 November , 2004 It appears to be an assortment of Officers of various Line Regiments,as they are apparently wearing different Cap Badges?
DrB Posted 18 November , 2004 Share Posted 18 November , 2004 I don't know about war-time censorship in WWI, but I looks as though some of the cap badges and collar dogs have been "obliterated." The light/dark khaki shirt "rule" is not apparent and most seem to be wearing a sword. Perhaps early in the war? That would lead me to guess that is was an official photo of some kind vice a personal picture. DrB
