My wifes uncle has in his possesion his granfathers medals from service in the

Kings Royal Rifles. Bars on the medals say Tugela Heights 1891,

Relief of Chitteral 1895 and Relief of Ladysmith.

Any one help me with a discussion forum for the Boer War?

What might these medals be worth.

Where can I find a history of this regiment? and an account of these engagments.

I know it's the wrong war for this forum but I'm sure there are experts out there who can help me.

Can't help with much on the KRRC history or values etc. but the medals you're talking about are for two different campaigns.

The medal with the bar "Relief of Chitral 1895" is the India General Service Medal 1895-1902 for service on the North West Frontier of India. The 1/KRRC were part of the Chitral Expedition which raised the siege of Chitral on 19th April 1895.

The second medal is the Queen's South Africa Medal with bars "Tugela Heights" and "Relief of Ladysmith" for service during the 2nd Anglo-Boer War in South Africa. The battle of Tugela Heights consisted of a number of separate actions between 12th-27th February 1900 as part of the operations to relieve Ladysmith, the siege of which was finally raised on 28th February 1900.

Hope this is of help.
