Irish guards shortest military service

To all members,

i need some expert assistance from guards experts.i am doing research on a soldier for a friend. trying to figure out shortest service of irish guards . he joined in 1914 and within two days he was in the connaught rangers. i believe he was in gallipolli in 1915 with the rangers. i do not have a date for when he ended up in the royal flying corps. but he was a mechanic, this is strange because he was a farmer and would have done everything with a horse. he died in august 1918.would any experts have any ideas why would a recruit be posted to a new regiment after two days, this seems strange.
