jamesboy Posted 2 December , 2015 Share Posted 2 December , 2015 Hi All, I finally got a higher resolution image of my Grandfather in his WW1 uniform it clearly is the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. My question, Is the uniform the 1902 style and can anyone pick out any further information from the image?
Andrew Upton Posted 2 December , 2015 Share Posted 2 December , 2015 He's wearing the soft SD cap (aka the trench cap) as introduced in March 1916, so the photo must be after that date.
jamesboy Posted 2 December , 2015 Author Share Posted 2 December , 2015 Thanks Andrew, The back of the Photo is dated 8/11/18. I have never been able to identify his records as we have no service number all we have is this Photo. If he is wearing a trench cap does this mean there is a good chance he was overseas serving?
