No Medals Mystery

I am researching D.Ryan L/Cpl G/6484. CWGC Date of death 25/03/20. MIC gives rank as private but is blank of Roll information, page nos and medal entitlement. Under remarks is NW/3/10723. Can anyone interpret this please?

Is it possible this person who is believed to have during the war became Ill and as a result had no medal entitlement??

All advice welcomed.

In regards to your second question, as far as Canadian soldiers are concerned, if they left Canada and proceeded overseas to the UK they qualified for the war medal, and if they then moved on to France, the victory medal. Men who never left Canada would not have been entitled to any medals, so I am assuming a UK soldier who never left Britain would also not receive medals. Hopefully other Pals can confirm or correct this.

Terry,.

D.Ryan originated in Tiperary and is buried in Clonmel. How he enlisted in the West kents is also a mystery. Perhaps he was working near London.

He had a young family in Ireland.

On his headstone and according to family knowledge he is known as M.Ryan. However his next of kin info from the CWGC record tallies definitly as D.Ryan. this is another mystery.
