Great round up with this last lot!!.

#s 4292, 533, 2976, 5240, 4962, 1497 & 3057 all look to be new numbers.

You had already added # 4937 the other day.

The last one is # 3349 which is already listed.

With all those blurry photo's, my only conclusion is that on the original last photo; the 2nd # may be a 6, cannot make anything of the other 3 numbers. I left that one for dead a long time ago as the only photo available had the numbers in shadow and not fit for purpose.

JMB, when you get a chance could you please check all these recent numbers out and up date the list, it is getting a little confusing with all the photo's.

Cheers,

TR

@t.ryan apologies I have one screen up with the serial number chart and the other with my other screen.

I’m just having a look where I can, maybe we can make it to 350 some time soon :)

let me have a play with that bayonet a bit more, the issue is when I adjust the top, the bottom is wrong and vice versa. I’m fairly sure the last number is a 1 and the first is a 0 but we may have to heave it if you don’t believe so, no worries my end

most annoying is the listings that do not even show the face of the bayonet

TR,

Here is latest Table.

I have not included any serials that I cannot read clearly.

Navydoc,

I agree with TR that all of those screen shots are very confusing; it is worth manipulating the photos, but only if you can come up with a result and then we only need to see that one good photo.

Regards,

JMB

@JMB1943 apologies and no problem at all- I’ll give it a better crack, but the issue is with a shade gradient- you have to adjust the settings to see only one or two numbers at a time, and then piece together all 4 over multiple photos rather than one. I’ll see if I get it a bit easier.

kind regards

Thanks for the new list JMB.

I will print out a new copy; the spaces on the old one have quickly filled up in the rush of new smiling tigers we have once again experienced since the last list was updated. Thanks going to navydoc who must have sleepless nights thinking about these pointy things.

Yes, those extra photo's do quickly fill up the page and as you say, it is very easy to edit and check out the original photo's on ones mobile phone, iPad or computer before uploading to this or any post and I think the 1% that we are finding for this post where the photo is to blurry or the numbers are not clear; are probably not worth the trouble. If a couple of numbers are readable then fair game for the parts number list.

Looks like smiling tiger #5240 may have been in a fire at some stage, rusted then cleaned down nearly removing the tiger face; only just visible after a couple of good blinks.

Cheers,

TR

@t.ryan no problem at all mate, happy to be of help, not too many sleepless nights - my new trick is to just type in “Siamese bayonet” in google- having set my computer to a different country.

i.e. type baïonnette siamoise (French for Siamese bayonet) in French google

Took about 30 minutes to find all the ones I posted yesterday

ack. On the photos, no problem with the leaving out the blurry stuff

kind regards

JMB, navydoc,

Three more new smiling tigers, at this rate of new numbers coming in, the next total of 350 is looking good.

navydoc, a slip of the finger on your second number, it is actually # 3891.

Cheers,

TR

I also edited some of my older posts to get rid of the multiple photos, so the threads are now a bit more compacted

The first # x95, we already have a photo of and looked at it before. The first number 8, 9 or 5 ??? is just to hard to call, therefore that smiling tiger is listed and counted in the incomplete number column.

The second #, a few maybe's there for me personally, a 1%,er on that photo for sure.

I find if I left click (my computer) on the large photo's above, it reduces the size of photo a lot and seams to make clearer at same time.

Actually not sure why some of the photo's we upload come up so large.

Cheers,

TR

No worries mate all good, I thought I would have a crack but no worries :) maybe we will find enough one day to even work it out by process of elimination (wishful thinking) :)

Navydoc,

When I look at a serial number that we collect, the standard for putting it on the list is,

”Would it stand up in a court of law, beyond a reasonable doubt?”

I am afraid that #2850 would be laughed out of court, because it is such a stretch.

I can accept a 3X2X if the 3 and 2 are clearly 3 and 2, but four unrecognizable numerals like “2850” are a no-no.

We all appreciate the effort that you put into finding these, all over the internet world, but whether one is missed because of poor original photos is really of no consequence in the scheme of things.

Regards,

JMB

Smiling tiger # 6296. Not much of a photo but enough to claim as a new one for the overall tally. The only other photo was of complete bayonet and scabbard so small that it was useless.

Navydoc,

First time ever that the seller has annotated the bayonet photo, and the number is correct!

#7606 is duly noted in the list; also noted is the soldier’s face in between 6 & 0.

JMB
