Guest mjking Posted 11 December , 2004 Share Posted 11 December , 2004 i am trying to find out where my grandfather may have been posted in france during WW1. the only legible information i can extract from his service record is that he joined up in stratford london in april 1917 and the active service form is stamped 39th Reserve Battery R.F.A. can anyone give me any guidence as to how i can find found what brigade he may have joined and where he would have been posted. thanks Martin
SMG65 Posted 11 December , 2004 Share Posted 11 December , 2004 Martin 39 Battery RFA were part of 19 Brigade RFA which was part of 27 Division, which moved to Salonika in Nov 1915. I don't know if this is 39 Reserve Battery RFA. A look at the website 'The Long Long Trail' may help. Have you looked for his medal card?
