SOMMESOLDIER Posted 12 December , 2004 Share Posted 12 December , 2004 Hi There, Could any of you out there please help with any information about the above soldier. I have checked the Manchester Battalions Book Of Honour and there is no mention of him, so it appears that he joined later. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Tim. John_Hartley Posted 12 December , 2004 Share Posted 12 December , 2004 Tim The Book of Honour only covers the Pals Service Battalions (at least in terms of the platoon photos). The 7th Bn was a Territorial unit, part of 42nd Division. I have no real expertise in Manchester Regiment service numbers but his looks a little unusual, in that it's not the early 4-digit TF number, nor the later 6-digit one. Perhaps his original enlistment was into a service battalion (and it would certainly be a late enlistment)and he was later transferred to the 7th.
