jimmy9fingers1 Posted 10 March , 2017 Share Posted 10 March , 2017 (edited) Hi All, Does anyone know of any online resource or more likely literature, that can match dates to the serial number ranges of the Webley service revolvers. I recently encountered a military marked mk iv .455 with no manufacture or issue date present, (I believe they were made until 1912 ish and used in WW1 even though they are referred to as the Boer War Model. Also it would be good to understand the serial number ranges for the later mk iv .38, although obviously this gun is nothing to do with ww1 Thanks, Jim Edited 10 March , 2017 by jimmy9fingers1 spelling
peregrinvs Posted 10 March , 2017 Share Posted 10 March , 2017 Basic WWII .38 MkIV serial number ranges by year are listed here: http://www.armsresearch.co.uk/The Webley and Scott Achive/Webley and Scott Archive.html Probably a good place to ask about earlier guns as well. jimmy9fingers1 Posted 10 March , 2017 Author Share Posted 10 March , 2017 Thanks, I can see my webley mk iv .38 serial number in the 108,000 range was made in 1943, according to their parameters for that number range. Can't see anything on guns of ww1 vintage or older. Maybe me though as I'm not v. computer literate.
peregrinvs Posted 11 March , 2017 Share Posted 11 March , 2017 I meant you'd need to enquire with them. I believe there's a fee for this.
