darylr Posted 9 April , 2017 Share Posted 9 April , 2017 Hi, I'm researching a relative of mine named Herbert Hope, who apparently served in the Royal Navy. I have his record from the register of seamen's services 1853-1928 which give his details but I'm afraid I can't understand the info written in it, apart from the fact he may have enlisted in 1921 and that he may have gone into the Royal Hospital Chelsea ? I would really appreciate any help in figuring out what happened to Herbert. Thanks, Daryl Rodger
horatio2 Posted 9 April , 2017 Share Posted 9 April , 2017 (edited) He served as an Engine Room Artificer between 23 March 1916 and demobilisation on 17 August 1919. Most of his service, after initial training at HMS PEMBROKE (Chatham base), was in the old cruiser HMS ST GEORGE deployed as a depot ship to the Aegean. He had a very short, final draft to HMS EGMONT (Malta base). No further service after demob in 1919. Edited 9 April , 2017 by horatio2
