axial1680 Posted 27 April , 2017 Share Posted 27 April , 2017 I wonder if anyone can help me. My great uncle was in the 4th bn Connaught Rangers from April 1918 when he enlisted in Edinburgh, until February 1919 when he re enlisted in the 1st bn in Natoye in Belgium. It says on his service record after serving at Dover they were transferred to France in September 1918. Does anyone know what they did in France? Did they do any fighting or was it looking after prisoners etc? I can't seem to find any answers anywhere. Many thanks, Paul
sotonmate Posted 28 April , 2017 Share Posted 28 April , 2017 Paul It would help unlock some facts if you posted your GUs details. If we can find which unit he was serving in Sep 1918 we can refer you to the War Diary of that unit. 4 Bn stayed in the UK and soldiers were drafted from there to other front line units.
