FOund this man's gravestone in Cheriton Road cemetery, Folkestone Kent. Anyone able to supply some information re him and his battalion?

Solomon

Pte. Solomon was born in Birmingham, England, and gave a Montreal address when he enlisted. He worked as a salesman. I don't have any articles about him as most of my stuff is from the Toronto area. (Incidentally, I have about 5 obituaries for Jewish Canadian soldiers).

The 15th Battalion was a famous Canadian unit - many of the members were formerly with the 48th Highlanders, although as the war went on - they would have been reinforced by other units. The 15th lost many men at Ypres in April 1915.

Thanks sooooooo much Marika. Intersting that he was buried several hundred miles from where he was born, and that he gave a Montreal address at enlistment.
