KILTY Posted 22 December , 2004 Share Posted 22 December , 2004 Well it now seems inevitable that the last of the Scottish Regiments will be confined to the history books. After their loyal service to The British Crown it really is great pity. I'm only glad the Forum will help keep these proud regiments memory alive. Jon. SOMMESOLDIER Posted 23 December , 2004 Share Posted 23 December , 2004 Hi Jon, Couldn't agree with you more, a very sad day. Another terrible decision by people who know the COST of everything and the VALUE of nothing ! Cheers Tim.
Derek Robertson Posted 23 December , 2004 Share Posted 23 December , 2004 Amen to that. I'm reminded of a verse from the time of the Highland Clearances which went something like: "Since you have prefered sheep to men, let sheep defend you". chris.wight Posted 23 December , 2004 Share Posted 23 December , 2004 One small consolation, the name and traditions of such Regiments as the Black Watch and Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders will live on with their namesakes in the Canadian Militia. Wienand Drenth Posted 23 December , 2004 Share Posted 23 December , 2004 As can be seen at regiments.org the regimental titles will survive as subtitles. At least for the time being... Wienand
