Mick S Posted 14 January , 2018 Share Posted 14 January , 2018 Its another ask for any info please this time for my late Grandfather on my mothers side who served in the Royal West Kents. He was PTE Edward H W Yard, G/39456. I am hoping information will be forthcoming regarding when he enlisted, and of course to which Battalion he joined and where his service took him till the end of hostilities. He survived the war, and spent the rest of his working life in Chatham Dockyard, working in the Chatham Empire Theatre part time of an evening working backstage operating the lighting and curtain, meeting many famous music hall stars of the time. He passed away in 1966. Regards Mick
BFBSM Posted 14 January , 2018 Share Posted 14 January , 2018 (edited) His service records are available on FindMyPast, https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=gbm%2fwo363-4%2f007306600%2f00176&parentid=gbm%2fwo363-4%2f7306600%2f7%2f176, they show he attested on 29 Jan, 1918 and was wounded on 8 Sep, 1918. Further reading indicates this was a self inflicted wound. Mark Edited 14 January , 2018 by BFBSM
