rmtruby Posted 1 January , 2005 Share Posted 1 January , 2005 A few years ago I bought a copy of “My Heart’s Right There” by Florence L. Barclay from a Midlands charity shop. It’s a classic piece of wartime propaganda in the form of a novel, based loosely around a soldier’s experiences of joining up. It was first published in December 1914, and reprinted on at least three occasions. My reprint is from March 1915. The book is dedicated “To Our Men at the Front”. The previous owner appears to be an E.G. Cessford, and he received this book on 26th July 1917. I’m assuming he was a soldier. If anyone has any information on this man, it would be appreciated. rmtruby Posted 2 January , 2005 Author Share Posted 2 January , 2005 Thanks for the info. E.G. Cessford wasn't on the list, so it looks like the book was owned by a civilian. I can only guess that the E.G. Cessford who owned the book would have been related to one of the soldiers on the list. Thanks Ray
Tom Morgan Posted 2 January , 2005 Share Posted 2 January , 2005 Ray, there is also the possiblility that E. G. Cessford was female. Tom
