He has a grenade on his sleeve which I think denotes bomber. The cap badge is very indistinct. Possibly  Leicester or Queens?

Can you manage a close up of the cap badge?

I think he is a qualified bomber (grenade thrower) of the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment.

Seconded, although possibly 22nd or 24th London regiment, who wore the same badge.

Yes, I agree, good point.

P.S.  Excellent spot by Michelle, which I missed previously.  Apologies!

Hi thanks for the replies.

I am trying to put names to some old family photos.

Can you give me any information with this photo ?

Thanks

No Insignia unfortunately.  Buttons are general service and used by most regiments.  The fob hanging from a pocket very likely relates to a pocket watch.  The uniform is standard WW1 service dress (SD).

Could the fob be a Temperance Badge?

Quite possibly Michelle, or perhaps a fraternity like the Ancient Order of Buffaloes, etc.

Was it normal for a Bristolian living in Bristol to join a London regiment ?

thanks.

After 1916 men were called up and after training sent wherever needed.  It was also not uncommon for a man to be returned to a different unit after wounding, convalescence and recovery.  Many men served in several units over the course of the war.

Hi again.

Could this card relate to the cap badge etc above ?

Could the badge be RFA ?

Also could anyone explain what this card means.Did he win any medals before his rank being reduced ?

Thanks

No, as already explained the cap badge shown is either West Surrey’s or one of two battalions London Regiment that wore the same Paschal Lamb design badge.  It is not RFA.
