rolt968 Posted 11 March , 2018 Share Posted 11 March , 2018 Apologies if this is in the wrong place. There is no category for DVDs. (I thought I had posted this some weeks ago, but it does not seem to have arrived.) B & R Ultimate Steam Archive Series (DVD) Volume 149:Locomotive of War. I got a copy at Didcot last summer. It shows film of locomotives in service in the UK which served overseas in WW1 or WW2. Brief accounts are given of the individual locos and where they served. Obviously there is more about the WW2 veterans as there were more around in the 1950s and 1960s when most of the films were shot. Incidentally I had always wondered why an 0-6-0 tender loco (still surviving I think) which served I WW1 had a woman's name. Now I know that it was a survivor, possibly the only one of a class named after generals (Maude). RM
The Scorer Posted 12 March , 2018 Share Posted 12 March , 2018 Yes, indeed, "Maude" is still with us, although not currently in working order. She's on the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway on Scotland - here's a link about the loco - http://www.srpssteam.com/locomotives/loco-no-673-65243-maude/ and here's one about the railway - https://www.bkrailway.co.uk/.
